I am currently using an E6600 myself but my cousin wants to upgrade his system so I recently built a cheap value rig with an A4-3400 APU. I am thinking about giving him my E6600 rig so I can keep the A4-3400 because I liked the micro ATX form factor better comparing with my mid tower. How do these processors compare in mostly photo editing and PS usage?

Also, how is the on board A4-3400 GPU perform? I assume it is no better better than my 8800GTX 512mb (g92) vid card even though it is almost 6 years old lol.

If your using CS5 or CS6 you can have your video card GPU do most of the work.
So video card is also important for PS,,,,, I suggest a GTX 460 1GB for around 120 dollars... gl

That's an A6-3650 vs an E6750. I would imagine that an E6600 would beat an A4 by a wider margin, especially in Photoshop.

From the link you provided the A6-3650(2.6GHz) is faster than the E6750 (2.66GHz)

Adobe Photoshop CS4 - Retouch Artists Speed Test
Time in Seconds - Lower is Better

AMD A6-3650 =26.3
vs
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 = 34.

I will say that for the CPU part the A4-3400 will be faster than the E6600,
but, the 8800GTX will be faster than the iGPU of the A4-3400.

edit: sorry the A6-3650 is a quad not a dual core, my mistake ;)

Yep, A6 > C2D > A4.

8800GTX is a huge step forward from the iGPU on the A4, or even A8. Of course the 8800 uses gobs more power, and pushes out gobs more heat, and isn't as up to date in DX support, but even still it's a lot faster.

If you want to build a modern system of similar nature, building out an A10 might be something to make you happy, and would be close enough to the 8800 to make it worth it. I realize that it costs a bit more, but it's still a fraction of what that E6600/8800 cost a few years back, and you get a ton more performance in contrast to the heavily gimped A4.

A4 has only two cores, aka one module. So, it's going to be destroyed by the Core 2 Duo because because it doesn't have extra cores to provide it an advantage in multithreaded apps it's bigger brothers can. It's single-core performance pales in comparison to a Core 2 Duo.
