I've never heard it. What was the latest version before Aureal folded?

How did it compare to EAX 3.0? What about EAX 4.0? What about EAX 5.0? I thought I heard somewhere that the latest A3D version was still better than EAX 4.0 and that Creative didn't match or beat A3D until EAX 5.0 (which did indeed add a lot of effects compared to previous versions).
 
A3d was the bomb. I had a Diamond Monster MX200 or MX300 that was hands down a much better sound than the creative labs EAX offering at the time. I don't know the versions, but I remember hearing my setup and then my friend's setup and we were both blown away with how much more realistic mine sounded. This was back in the late 90's iirc.
 
You already have a thread about 3D positional audio... why didn't you just post in that one instead making yet another off-topic thread in PCG? (This belongs in general hardware)
