Horrible.

If AMD really does have a GDDR5 controller on it, they should release a mining motherboard with Kaveri and GDDR5.

Much better way to move GloFo garbage.

Not even close, as you can get a 760K + 7790 for the same price.

"The A10-7850K and A10-7700K will include Origin keys to Battlefield 4"

With other retailers like Tiger Direct selling the A10-7850k for $179, the end user price without Battlefield 4 could be around $145 to $155.

It could also be the same 179$ (189$ on newegg.)

Seriously, one of the worst possible bang for buck CPU to pair with discrete graphics (A10-7850K). AMD's own $119 FX6300 makes Kaveri look quite bad.

Overall gaming performance (with discrete graphics) a bit slower than A10-6800K @ stock. The 5.8% IPC bump verified in those CPU limited games (SR vs PD) couldnt keep up with the reduced clocks. Similarly priced i5-4430/4440 is ~50% faster according to Hardware.fr review.

All I hear are extremely narrow minded attempts to pigeonhole Kaveri into dGPU gaming. It's the first APU worthy of the description. Use your imagination people, there are no clear cut answers when it comes to engineering compromises.

Keep in mind guys this isn't the review thread, so please keep your discussing to pricing/availability

I really hope that this APU is due for a price correction. Because I just don't see the point, at $190.
This would hardly be the first time Newegg gouged on a new product, unfortunately.:( $190 isn't the MSRP, so I'd expect it to fall to the real MSRP after not too long.

It's not AMD gouging on a new product its newegg, which they are notorious for doing.

@Sweepr's benchmarks

Is that Phenom x4 980 really right behind this brand spanking new APU or am I imagining things?

No, your not imagining things. Most of those benchmarks don't appear to use more than 2 cores and clock for clock Kaveri isn't much better than the good old Phenom on a per core basis.

its looking more and more like its just simply to narrow. you effectively have ( excluding FMA) 33%-66% of the execution units of K10. Given that you really can see how much better a lot of the stuff in PB/SR is, it just isn't wide enough. When your small cheap bobcat/jaguar core has more execution units per thread you kind of get the feeling that they just got the initial design targets all wrong.

But is it boundled with bf4?
7850k + bf4 for $190 is not that terrible. For 174 it would be quite a deal.

GFX cards with and without BF4 cost the same. Also Simcity for example got bundled previously with APUs without price changes. I doubt BF4 got any impact on the price. It simply seems AMD cant afford to sell it cheaper. Trinity to Richland also increased the price, without making the product any better against the competition. Hence losing more performance/$ value.

I don't understand.

My point was it is not as bad of a deal if you get a free game with it, opposite to getting APU alone.

Up until this point I totally forgot about game bundle, which made 7850k look way overpriced compared to a8-6700. Now when one comes with bf4, that puts 7850k option closer to 7600

You overvalue bf4 way too much. Its currently in the run for flop of the year 2013 as well.

When they fix that memory bandwidth issue starving those stream processors of resources, then it might be worth it to consider the Kaveri A10s. But right now, the best Kaveri chip is the A8-7600. Kaveri A10s might have the same stream processor count as a R7 250, but it sure can't perform like one in its current state.
