Tips?

I'm trying to have it finished by the 10th.

Any help / tips on preparing for / passing the tests appreciated.

Wrong forum, and I suggest you give a list of the tests you are trying to pass. The steps to getting an A vary based on the class. For example, I would suggest doing a bunch of practice problems if the test is math. On the other hand, if the test is English I would suggest reading over the source material.

Change your title to something along the lines as "I'm trying to get my A+ certification, what should I study?" and you'll get a much better response. Your OP is too ambiguous.

The 10th of what, Dec? That's not much study time. What you want to do is go to the CompTIA website and download the 701 & 702 objectives and use the topics as a study guide. The tests are each 100 multiple-choice questions and could be anything remotely to do with the list of objectives. You have 90 minutes. They like to try and trip you up so it's really good to be as prepared as possible. CompTIA A+ Certification (Exams 220-701 & 220-702-there are 2 tests) by Michael Meyers is a great book, but he tends to go more in depth than is necessary for passing the test. I started out with his book for the 2006 version of the test, and in the meantime they updated it to the 2009 v. That gave me a good background but I had to get another text geared to the updated version-Exam Cram CompTIA A+ 220-701-220-702 BY David L. Prowse. As the title suggests this one's great to review. They both have practice questions in the book and on CD. The OS's covered are Win 2000 (not real in depth though), XP & Vista. If you don't have it I strongly suggest somehow getting your hands on a copy. I used Windows free VM and found a free virtual copy on softpedia. I ended up getting VMWare Workstation and had both XP & Vista to practice with. If you pass before the end of the year the certification never expires for A+, Network+ & Security+. I suggest taking the sample tests until you can get 80% or better. Also you do not have ot pay the whole price, vouchers are available.

You can do it through Prometric or Pearson VUE, doesn't matter I would check out both for testing locations to decide. Good luck!
