A year later and another $1000

I gave my car for a service this morning and I just got a call from the dealership saying my gaskets and water pump are leaking badly.

What happened in the last 365 days. I had them fixed by another guy (not a dealer) last year for about 1300.
Anyway It needs fixing.. otherwise a nicer excuse to get my bike in fast.

Its pissing me off since the car runs fine otherwise, with the ocassional loss of power. The nice part is that the "Whine" that I had reported here was due to the waterpump failing.

I am now going to have to walk to the dealer ship and have a look at it.

Infact the cost of ownership on the BMW seems a lot better.
The $1000 is including the $300 major service (all fluid change + service + tune up) and then these two things cropped up.

Soybomb, it reliable otherwise. all it requires is a oil change apart from routine maintaincee.. by the way its got 100,000+ miles on it.

uh you got ripped dude. MY 750il which has the biggest darn water pump in the planet, and requires 3 hours to remove cost $650 for a "BMW" new , not rebuild pump to be installed (includes parts) we're talking 5.0 V-12 motor here.

wacky what some folks will pay, when in fact a coupla hours in the garage, and voila..

I am just about to leave.. I am taking my digital camera so I can have proof.. just in case the other guy doenst want owe up for his work.
IT failed one year from the day he serviced it (and 30,000 miles later).

30k is far too soon for pump to go.

unless you have sludge in your water or something, and dont use a good mix of anti-freeze to water.. (ie rust formation)

well the cooling system liquid was done last year (when he changed the water pump) god knows what he used.

However I went over there, it has corroded again, you can see the corrosion. He found that the pump was failing when he ran a pressure test.
Anyway my oil pan is leaking too (the other guy had taken that off too I believe).

Anyway I will have baby back only tommorow.
