Wh00p! 😀 Three cool things just came in the mail today:

V5 5500
IBM 45 Gb 75GXP
Golden Orb

Yay 🙂

The Gorb can always wait, but when I've got my case up and all i though I might as well install it now......and in case I find out it isn't very obvious how I'm supposed to attach it to my FCPGA P3 750E (on a slocket converter thingie, slot 1 mobo), I'd like it if someone could please give me some links to diagrams / pics, or just give their own instructions on how to install the Golden Orb

Thanks 🙂

http://www.thermaltake.com ?

they have instructions with a diagram there
I'm supposed to be receiving my ram, motherboard, golden orb, and dvd drive tomorrow, so hopefully i'll be trying to do the same thing then 🙂

i wonder what the chances are that they'll all arrive on time, coming from 4 different stores

On my Gorb, the retention mechanism was very hard to get off so I drilled the holes bigger where the little prongs on the Gorb go through it. That made it atleast ten times easier to install.

This advice from LarryJoe really helped me a lot when installing my Golden Orb.

<< Also be sure to wear in the mechanism a lot before installing. Do this by twisting it back and forth about 30 times. >>

I've seen this advice in several places, but am very confused about what it means
i hope it's obvious when i actually have the golden orb in myhands..

Yeah, I was confused with that statement before getting the GORB but understood much better after having the GORB in my hands.

Prodigy^: If my memory serves me correctly, didn't you order your V5 5500 from OnVia? Make my day and say yes. 🙂

I wish I had seen that tip about twisting the orb back and forth before installing because I had one heck of a time trying to install mine last week. I'll definitely remember that one in the future.

YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAW!

it's all working 🙂

It wasted TWO DAMN HOURS trying to get the last screw that held my old HDD in place out! :| It was so damn inaccessible! yes, two hours!

oh well, it's running smoothly now, I'm listening to Foo Fighters' "Learn To Fly" (great song) and all is cool 🙂

After some grief I found out how to install the Gorb.....damn you had to twist that thing hard! I was afraid of cracking my CPU 😀

The V5 works like a charm, haven't tried any games yet, but will soon 🙂

only suck thing is that my 225W PSU is running dry 🙁 my case fans hardly spin anymore, but I guess that's just a healthy, easy way to learn that I need a 300W PSU 🙂

Insomniac: sorry, but they don't ship outside the US 🙂 so I got it from outpost.com, and the offer included full, boxed version of Everquest - Ruins of Kunark......I haven't tried it, but some people say it's a wonderful game and didn't cost me anything extra 🙂

byeeeee 🙂
