Lovely beach scene and lighting. Makes a nice desktop. My only criticism is, . . . I'm not there! :)

I love it. Just one question though - where were you standing??? It appears that it was taken from atop a step ladder in the surf about 45 minutes before sunset. (I'm going by the angle of the shadows in the building close to the beach)

i was going to ask the same, but then i just assumed he was standing on a pier or something

i like the shot, the colors and contrasts in the waves is nice
i wish the horizon line wasn't vertically centered though

Hmmm! It is not centered on my display. It is 4 3/16" from the top and 3.5" from the bottom. You want more ocean and less sky? Yeah - that would work - and it can be done by cropping.

I was standing on a groyne :)

I cropped it to lose some sky and a some less 'happening' foreground, will post the original when I get home tonight (My cropping skills are anything but '1337').

And yeah, it's summer now, but when I took that it was late winter/early spring.

I went the reverse of Troytime. Brought the water highlight to the foreground. Cut out the boring surfers in darker water. Cut out that distracting building in the background. Pushed to rule of 3rds. Fixed horizon. No color correction at all from the original, but it looks like it because I dropped the darker areas.

That's in Australia. It is actually springtime in the Southern Hemisphere. :)

I understand about the rule of thirds...and I usually agree with it. But for this image I think having an equal amount of sky and water looks better than cropping out half the water. IMHO.
