I got coupons in the mail today for buy one get one scratch off lottery tickets. With these coupons I think that this may actually be an something where the odds show I will make money, but I need you to check out my math. Of course to actually make money I would need tens of thousands of coupons, but this will let me play the lottery without feeling like an idiot since the odds aren't stacked against me.

From the FL lotto website for the big cheese game

Odds of Winning

$1,200.00 1-in-336,000

$10.00 1-in-75
$5.00 1-in-50
$2.00 1-in-30

1.1(1/10+2/30+5/50_10/75+25/300+50/1500+100/45000+1200/336000)=.522 x 2 =1.045 = .956 to 1 odds

1.2(1/30+4/50+9/75+24/300+49/1500+99/45000+1199/336000) = .422 x 2 = .844 odds 1 to 1.185

Are either of these calculations correct?

I think it's a lot closer to 60% payout ... Also, you'd need to pay income tax on any winnings.
This is a VERY bad idea.

I can't math, but I can tell you that if there was a loophole in the system it would have already been figured out and closed. The lottery exists to give the poor and stupid false hope while filling the governments pockets, that's it.

Yes, you have discovered the hole that no one else has ever thought of or discovered or possibly thought of. You have beat the system thoroughly. Please proceed to pass go and collect $200.
