A weird event just happend with all of our servers

OutHouse

Lifer
at 1344 Mountain time started getting system pages and phone calls that our primary db was down along with direct processes and other errors.

none of them are related, it was not a problem with the network, not a problem with the power, it seems all systems were affected for about 5 seconds.

Sun spots? EM pulse from a nuke? Aliens playing a prank?

bewary of bathroom floods.

you think that is bad, try having 12 servers (6 mirrored) and 2 of them will not load w2k3EE. all the rest are fine. and the 2 that aren't loading are mirrored of each other. I need to get rid of my headache now

thats kinda weird. @ 1145 pst. we experienced something like that at my work too...plus we checked our solarwinds monitoring...had like 30% packet loss. that was the only thing we found...within like 30 seconds everything started working again...

Check your Files. If many of them are missing, especially paired files, the Rapture has just occurred and all Rapture believing Religions were way wrong! 😉

Seriously, that sounds weird. Could be a sunspot, or maybe a major Internet Pipe was switched ...or something(way over my head there 😉 )

Funny you mention servers.

Our Citrix servers have been dying one by one this week. On one of my apps, the farm has been reduced from 5 to 2 servers alive and kicking.

You might have had a bad dns zone transfer that messed up the servers ability to resolve resources for a brief time until dns re-replicated. Or the same can be said about the global catalogs.

Check the events logs on all of your domain controllers and see if there are any similiarities.

but not with the PC's we have that are connected to 16 modems via a digi board. all for of our PC's that are have modems lost connection to the modems.

also our firewall was throwing errors for the same amount of time.

where are you located? I am in Boulder Colorado.

We had a short outage like that either last week or 2 weeks ago. When a system goes down we get paged. I found out then that when the whole network goes down our cell phones get paged. Then when the whole network comes back up we get 10gazillion pages letting us know the servers are up.
