A wealthy family is suing a grocery store clerk for posting about their very public involvement in the Jan 6th riot AND their own social media posts calling LGTBQ people "freaks." The woman being sued has a GoFundMe page (link below). Her bills are going to be quite high. Luckily, GA has anti-SLAPP laws in place, so with good defense she should win.

A thread from one of her defense attorneys with examples of now deleted posts from the wealthy Trumper insurrectionists:

I spy a running theme here. Conservatives whining about being held to account for their actual behavior. Whining that someone accurately reported what they actually did. Whining that someone else received truthful information about what they actually did by a FOIA request. Whining they got de-platformed because of what they, in fact, actually said.

This is the party of personal responsibility, circa 2021, or whatever has become of it.

Edit: suit alleges defendant said they had a "central role" in the riots, and called them homophobic losers. Both are statements of opinion. Lawsuit is a dead bang loser.

Yep, in a state with anti-SLAPP legislation too.

If like to hear more about how a private company banning patrons who violate terms of service is a First Amendment violation but an individual using money to leverage government resources to stifle speech they find offensive is perfectly fine.
