Is there a console command, config mod, or a simple way to disable character voice spams (I don't mean when people talk with their mics) by players in L4D2? Every now and then there is some asshole that spam rochelle's screaming voice or bind some character's line and play them over and over through the entire game (or until you quit).

:awe:

It does get annoying after a while, yeah.

Don't think there's a way, unfortunately.

Yea it gets really annoying sometimes but the ones I do like are the ones that are automatically done by the computer. Some of them are really funny but I hate it when people spam them.

You can votekick them, that's about the only thing you can do.

I myself have bound one of the voice commands to my fire button. I only used it for people who were rude to me :D

I actually don't mind the built-in character narration for the characters at all, and most of the time i don't even really notice them. I always start a vote kick if they keep spamming that shit, but sometimes vote kick fails because some people i guess just don't care. I met one spammer that even brought a friend, vote kick 2v2 wouldn't pass... son of a... :hmm:

Rage, cheers!

To my knowledge, there's no way to disable them locally.

The best you may be able to do, short of renting your own server and putting the anti-spam sourcemod plugin on is finding a server running it and use that for your games.

wow i can't believe this annoying exploit wasn't fixed in L4D2, when it was obviously an issue in the first one.

+1.

I don't understand why there isn't an in-game setting that lets you choose whether you want the narration on or off like the film grain setting in options.

A side note... if you play Ellis and you go up to the microphone at the concert he will start singing.
