It's not really about what is fair or right, this is how cities make money. They could care less if you have your headlight fixed, but the money they make from it is what they are after. I realized long ago that most traffic laws are just forms of making money. I think most traffic laws are a joke with the way they are enforced and the amount of money they can fine for the littlest of things.

Show the judge the police report stating your car was stolen or even the local prosecutor. Given some cirumstances they might let you off even though the fix it ticket was made before the car was stolen.

And since they put a warrent out for you, I'm sure you're going to have to pay another 200-500 dollar fine.

I don't understand why you are so angry because you didn't follow the process that you were fully aware of... You didn't comply with the law. You need to just cowby the f@ck up, admit you didn't do what you were supposed to and pay the fine... then get on with your life.

Due to budget cuts, they have to resort to any means of generating income, even if they have to become Nazis.

If the government gets more tax revenues (and maybe open up a few restaurants and start making money) then they won't have to be so unreasonable.
