Does anybody here know if the Tau's Hammerhead Gunship counts as a skimmer? That is, if it's immobilized, is it destroyed? The Tau Codex isn't too specific about it, saying only that it's classified as a tank AND a skimmer. But my friend argues that since it has landing pads, immobilizing it will merely cause it to land. If anybody has ANY IDEA what I'm talking about, please give your input.

Tau are new and it is a bit iffy. If someone shoots it down, it's not going to have time to break out the landing pads, you know what I mean? It hovers = skimmer = destroyed in my opinion, then again I havn't played 40k for like 4 years.

OK, I asked my brother and his friend, who both play 40k and know most rules and rulings. There was a rule change/clarification that basically stated that all flying Tau vehicles have landing gear equipped. The Gunship by default is a skimmer; thus, if it is immobilized in a turn in which it has moved(i.e. it is still in the air), it is destroyed. But the player can state that the ship has landed before his movement phase, and the ship won't move that turn. In that case, if the ship is immobilized, it's not destroyed automatically.

Hope that helps.

Actually, that's exactly the type of thing for which I was looking. Thanks a lot!

No problem, I'm glad to help with table-top wargaming rules clarifications at 3 in the morning. ;):)
