A videocard upgrade with increasing 3d performance???

I have a AMD k6-2 350 mhz processor and a ASUS p5a-b motherboard with 128mb memory and a 12mb voodoo2 video card
Now i´m really wondering if a videocard upgrade could give me any increase in performances in 3d games.
My maximum budget is a kyro II and i don´t know whether i should buy a kyro II, a geforce2 mx (200) or a kyro I and if any of the cards does any good in recent 3d games or that i just have to upgrade my whole system (mainboard/processor)

Please advise!

My previous machine was a K6-2 300MHz with a TNT2 graphics card, and it was pretty CPU limited. Like, playing Thief for example, it would cruise along quite smoothly when not much was happening (so the TNT2 fillrate was plenty high enough), but when a few enemies appeared it would really chug (CPU just couldn't transform all the polygons).

Now, a card with hardware T&L (i.e. GeForce or Radeon) may help by taking some of the burden off the CPU.. but I wouldn't bet money on it. So my advice would be not to spend money on a new graphics card until you have a newer CPU also, unless someone can provide you with some concrete figures concerning a hardware T&L card running well on a slow CPU.

Don't get a Kyro. They've got a lot going for them but I'm sure that without hardware T&L they will not run well with your slow CPU.

Thanks, you helped me out. I think i´m just going to wait another year and if i have enough money, i´ll buy a whole new system then.
But a i´m going to put a geforce2 mx in from someone i know to test it but i think i will not do any good because if it gets busy in games like delta force land warrior or sof my pc cpu starts to sputter and i think my processor can´t handle it anymore then

delta force land warrior dosn't use a 3d card much, I wouldn't use that as a benchmark.

The entire Delta Force range use voxels, no current 3d card (for game use) can even try to render them.

ok, but with combat flight simulator 2, soldier of fortune, serious sam and other games i have the same problem

Borrow a GF2MX, it's got a T&L engine which should get you CPU a boost. The Kyro relly prefers faster CPUs, I don't think you will be seening the Geforce 2 GTS (with the Kyro 2) with your CPU. I think that it is likly to perform worse than the GF2MX.
