I am building a comp for my brother and getting some upgrade for myself. I am getting a gf2 pro ans so will my brother but I am wondering if any card cheaper than it will be better since he only has a 15" monitor. The gf2 pro I am getting is $239.95 (CND) so it is preety cheap vid card for a pro. Should I shell out the money for a pro even thou it will be running at low rez or buy a gts or kyro2?

o his system will be

duron 800
256mb of ram
MSI kt7 pro 2-a

Lo m8... i dont claim 2 know it all... but i hope this helps...

On a 15" monitor (((im imagining it will be running 1024x768 x 32bit colour - on both desktop and games))) u will find that probably a original geforce 256 32meg ddr (((or a 64meg kyro 2))) will laugh its way through most modern 3d games... max payne will do nicely on it as well... arguably the only difference between that and a geforce 2 pro is the draw-ahead...

btw if u r interested... and bought a decent heatsink and fan (((as detailed in an anandtech article somewhere))) that duron 800 will run at 1ghz stable???

the overall system u r building tho will run like stink off a stick... tee hee...

personally tho if u can find a gerforce 256 32 meg ddr... it would be ideal... and seing as nVidia wright the best drivers... i go 4 one...

btw www.newegg.com ... they have a leadtek winfast geforce 2 pro 64 meg for $158.. cant be bad..

hope that helped... :) have fun...
