I just bought myself an Antec SX830 workstation case, along with an Abit KT7A-RAID, a T-Bird 1.1ghz, an IBM Desktar 75GXP 46GB HD, and some other crap. On my first bootup, everything worked fine, but as soon as I changed something in BIOS, and restarted, the system wouldn't boot. Well, I thought this was a minor, problem, so I doublechecked everything to make sure everything was in the right place. I then got the system back and running, and I noticed that on some restarts the system doesn't boot. In the Windows 98 setup (which I ran a few times, since there were some errors the first few times of installation), I noticed that when it did the auto restart, it would turn into a blank screen, and not restart. This does not happen if I click "Restart Now" in the setup process though. Anyways, I finally figured a workaround. In Windows, if I click SHUTDOWN, I won't be able to boot next time, but if I click restart, I can restart perfectly well. My workaround was that if it failed to boot, I had to disconnect the power cord for a full 5 seconds after shutdown, and then plug it back in, and startup would be normal. Now, this is really pissing me off, because nothing remotely this stupid should be happening. Has this ever happened to anyone? Could it be that my case/power supply is defective? I also have a question: How come there is no ATX power switch on my power supply anyways?
