A very nice surprise

My local NBC station has FINALLY started passing on the HD content on their digital station.

I turned on the Olympics and got a HUGE surprise. HD!

FINALLY!

Now I'm waiting on CBS to start transmitting HD on their digital channel and this hick town will FINALLY have the big 4 (CBS, ABC, NBC and FOX) in HD. ABC was the first, and then Fox. Tonight, NBC.

I'm jazzed because most of my favorite network shows are on NBC.

A question for those with HD

Did the signal from the olympics look overly compressed? And fast moving stuff was a mess of macroblocks here. It was worse than the DirecTV compression.

I get HD through comcast, and the opening ceremonies were incredible in HD! no compression problems....

perhaps it's your local channel having problems, especially if it's new to their system. Check avsforums local hdtv forum for discussion from other viewers in your area perhaps:

Supposedly, NBC is going to be showing Olympic coverage 24/7 on their HD channels.
With only one ad too!! They play the same stupid Sony ad every break, and its the only ad they play! Then they go back to coverage. I think this is the deal with their repeat coverage (like during repeats of opening ceremony, etc.) I only caught a few minutes of beach vball before someone wanted to watch that damned Zee TV.

You get Fox in HD?? :Q
My Fox doesn't do any better than 480 widescreen.

Look again. Fox started broadcasting in 720p a while back. The gave up on their push for "ED"

It's about damn time. I hope comcast has the digital FOX channel up and running in the fresno area before the NFL season starts.

Comcast started broadcasting NBC-HD here the same day as the Olympics started. Haven't watched much but from what I've seen the quality is great.
