A very Mississippi story

I included both links as the news source geoblocked me.

""My opinion is that it was self-done, and I have my reasons for that", said the deputy coroner, despite the death still being an active investigation"

Some time ago I would have seriously thought that an official working in an area where say racial violence was very stereotypical and try not to sound like they're going to respond to it in a historically stereotypical manner, but these days I know not to expect any level of historical awareness.

It would take some pretty considerable evidence for me to conclude (as coroner) that this was suicide. Otherwise, this seems like a bad plot twist in "A Time To Kill" where the KKK tries to retaliate against Carl Lee Haley.

We have no idea what happened here. Under normal circumstances, if the family suspected foul play (broken bones and what not) they’d pressure the state bureau of investigation to run an autopsy and perhaps amend the coroner’s report, or at least get a private autopsy. Then if the findings merit, they could appeal to the federal government to investigate. Under AAG Dhillon, I don’t know if that’s still an option.

Be honest, do you think this administration would investigate a case like this if warranted??

Likely or unlikely

Also apparently a homeless man was also found hanging from a tree on the same day in Mississippi?

If this is true, why can't the ME state the reasons why he thinks it is so? He is either incompetent, lying or perhaps they are investigating, and they are throwing the perps off the scent.

“I don’t think I should probably discuss this any further than that. My opinion is that it was self-done, and I have reasons for that,” said Roark, despite the death still being an active investigation.

Hanging from a tree via suicide sounds like something that can be easily determined. I can see the PD thinking keeping people in the dark considering the Kirk thing is best but if they are hiding evidence, it will turn out far worse in the end.

The Bolivar County (Mississippi) Coroner’s office statement said
“Based on the preliminary examination, we can confirm that the deceased did not suffer any lacerations, contusions, compound fractures, broken bones, or injuries consistent with an assault. At this time, there is no evidence to suggest the individual was physically attacked before his death.”

With all the available ways to commit suicide doesn't hanging yourself from a tree sound like it's last on the list?

We need more information

Family seeking an independant autopsy. We know the federal government under Trump in no way will help investigate this. I wonder if they can get a states AG not so hostile towards black people to investigate.

An independent investigation is likely very expensive and the family may not be able to afford. I'll be looking for a future GoFundMe. In fact, if Trump volunteers to help investigate family should turn it down. If there is a coverup going on Trump will assist it.

For sure the family should get an independent autopsy.
