I am currently looking into building a multi-tasking computer for my alt machine. It is being built to take some of the load of my gaming machine. 9 programs while playing games isn't the best thing to do. So let me get down to with what I have picked out so far for parts.

Case: P180B

Mobo: GA-965P-DQ6

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6700

PSU: ??? Would like a nice modual one that would fit with that case. 500-600w

Mem: pqi POWER Series 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM

Monitors: ViewSonic VX2025WM Black-Silver 20.1" x 2

GPU: ??? I haven't really picked one but I need something that will support dual DVI for both monitors.

Well that is all I can think of that is important. Just provide what suggestions you think would make this a better multi-tasking computer.

Thanx for all suggestions in advance.

what's your budget? i would recommend you drop down to an e6600 and get a 7900gt or x1900xt. the 7900GTs can be had at under $250 and the X1900XTs at around $350.

the enermax liberty 500w is a good modular power supply. very reliable. ~$100.

Money isn't really an issue, I don't have a set amount. so go with it. I choose the e6700 for it's higher l2 cashe.

But still unless you're a millionare the E6600 is still a way better choice overall

just wondering why you are getting the GA-965P-DQ6 over the GA-965P-DS3.
is there a specific reason or are you just not limited by a budget.

Well you are right I should go with the DS3 it has more what I need for nearly half the price. I may not have a limit but I am not stupid.

Thanx for your help.

If you really want a modular power supply, I would suggest the Enermax Liberty.

I would suggest against a modular power supply, but if you must, Enermax makes some good PSUs

Why isn't there much love for Modular PSUs? I have used ultra for several of my last builds. But this time I wanted to ask other ppl what they thought. I just need to make sure that it will fit in that case as the PSU is on bottem and requires PSUs with longer cables.

For the PSU, consider a Fortron Blue Storm 550 however it's not modular.

P.S. I think modular PSU's are a joke. I take a regular PSU and remove the case. Then I remove leads I won't ever need to eliminate clutter.

i think you just gave him a reason to go with a modular psu...

OP, i have nothing against modular PSUs but some people are against them because they feel it's useless. they have so many hdds, etc. that all the cables are already used so nothing is actually taken out
