I'm in the market to upgrade my computer completely, however I want to know if it's really worth it for what I'm doing. My current computer specs are:

A64 3500+
1 gig OCZ ram
Geforce FX 5950 Ultra (AGP)
MSI K8N Neo2 Plat

I just recently got a Dell 24 inch Flatpanel widescreen monitor. I don't think my current video card can handle the gaming resolutions I'm running at. I play World of Warcraft in 1920x1200 and it looks great but my frame rate is pathetic. That's why I'm thinking about doing a full upgrade (C2D). I'll end up spending probably over $1000 if I chose to do this. I was wondering if I should just upgrade my video card to a Geforce 7800GS instead of going for the full upgrade and saving myself money. Keep in mind, the only game I play is World of Warcraft. I guess the other question is, can a Geforce 7800GS handle the resolution that I want to run WoW at (1920x1200)?

If it was me, I'd get a whole new motherboard with a pci-e slot, and re-use the cpu. Then spend the money on a heavy duty video card.

how demanding is WoW at 19x12 with a $250 AGP x1950p?

... due within 3 weeks or so

that will answer your question
[people with the PCie version can answer since it is identical to the AGP version, spec wise ... or those with the x1900gt or even 7900gt are in the same 'class']

the x1950p has got to be at least 6 times faster than your current FX
:Q

and your A64 3500+ at default is "fine" for an x1950p

your call . . . $250 or $1000+
