I managed to get one of the Visiontech GF3 Ti200's from Best Buy today for $100. I am a real fuss bucket for good picture quality, especially 2D, so I have not been in a hurry to replace my Voodoo4 that has terrific 2D/3d quality even though it lacks muscle. I was sceptical even though people have been saying that the GeForce3 has terrific 2D quality. I have to say that the GF3 is a very pleasant surprise. The 2D text quality is even better than my Voodoo4 and the 3D is also great. I would say go for it if you have been thinking of upgrading your videocard.

in my opinion, the 2d on the ti200 sucks! anything over 1280x1024 is useless

I normally run at 1152x864@85HZ and the 2D//3D quality is excellent. I just put it into 1600x1200@85HZ and it is still excellent in 2D/3D. Text is very sharp and colors are saturated. In fact, I saw no difference in quality when I changed resolutuion. I used a Radeon and a Voodoo4 which both had great picture quality and IMO, my Visiontech GeForce3 Ti200 is better. My monitor is a 19" NEC FP950 which I have tuned to near perfection and in my case, all is well.

I just tried the tv out on this card and it sucks! Cant read a thing on the screen and it will only go up to 800*600. is that because i am using a tv so that's the max resolution? Or is it the quality of my shiitty magnovox tv? Anyone know how to make the tv out on this card better?

I agree thumbs up on the 2d quality of the visiontex g3 ti200 on my PF790 viewsonic 19" (great monitor cockeyed, it was my fav when I compared the Ag 19" 2 years ago, but I got a killer deal on my viewsonic). I run at both 1280x1024 and 1152x864 and noticed significant improvment from my gerforce2 MX original in 2d. 3D of course is another world

I just replaced my Matrox G400 Max with the Best Buy GeForce3.
My resolution is 1600 x 1200 x 85 Hz (Viewsonic P815).
Text seems a little softer, but still very readable.
I don't think I will be switching back due to 2D quality issues.

Looks good to me to. I just installed mine at 1152x864@85Hz on a 21" Hitachi SuperScan Elite 802 .22dp. :)

I have the PNY GF3 200 Ti and have to say I am mighty impressed by the image quality improvement over past nVidia based products I have had in my system. Text is very sharp and the color is good but not quite as saturated as the Matrox G450 in our other computer.

If I am not mistaken the max res on most TVs is 640 by 480 hence your dilema.
