So human life is not more important than mosquitos?

While if you'd stop killing innocents or participating in killing them by supplying the means to do so you'd suddenly have less enemies as only the mentally insane who want to destroy the country remain (Bin Laden, Bush, etc).

That doesn't mean you have to stop hunting down those responsible, but to use your example let's say that when a loser tries to attack you instead of killing him you bomb several schools killing thousands of kids. Think their parents will cheer you on for 'defending yourself against the loser'?

We killed innocents in Japan. They don't hate us. We killed innocents in Germany. They don't hate us. We killed innocents in every war we've ever fought.

You guys all make great points, but I think you have it all wrong. Why are we obligated to step back and look at things that Islamic facists and terrorists hate about us. We are who we are, and if they want to kill us for it, why should change? I would take pride in my dignity and fight back.

Also, I'm not talking about the war in Iraq. Just fighting islamic terrorists in general.

Terror is a tactic.

A rational USA Military General would have to approach terrorism waged against the USA based on this and other fundamental definitions.

The sleazy politics of the day should be kept out of the USA Central Command bunkers as much as possible.

The OP said this:
I hear a lot of anti-war people say things along the lines of: "We need to step back and figure out why the terrorists hate us and are attacking us. What are we doing to piss them off?"
The rest of what he says is basicly - don't step back and figure out why the (buzzword alert) "TERRORISTS" hate us and are attacking us. Just kick all their butts.

Let's take this one step at a time. First up. Let's study what a knee-jerk reaction is ok?. Let's take Iraq at this stage of that debacle for example. According to the OP's debate position, (and i can respect anyone's opinions) our USA Soldiers should sweep that Nation and kill all the terrorists. But the huge obstacle there is the fact we don't know who is who out of the 23 million people there who all wear the same basic clothing. It's a TACTICAL NIGHTMARE SITUATION from the perspective of the cigar chomping General sitting in the Central Command Bunker. He is responsible for the lives of 140,000 USA Soldiers.

Our boys should not be used by our Generals in a primitive reflex reaction sort of way. We must understand as much as possible anout EVERYTHING involved that can effect our troops that are deployed on a war footing very far overseas. This total awareness requires being clear headed. You must get rid of being psyopted by for instance the phony Bush Hunta propaganda slogan "war on terror." That slogan is just designed to illicit a knee-jerk reaction and force your thinking into a narrow box. Their box.

America's best effective response to the tactic of terrorism should be geared towards increasing the fortifications at our borders while at the same time reducing the corporate aggression of the trans-national corporations that are using America as a parking space for their buildings. If we had spent 350 billion doing that, we would be in great shape today as opposed to currently shoving 140,000 precious troops neck deep into hell in Iraq, trying to establish for the PNAC neo-cons, their 21st Century global control grid.

That Israeli crafted PNAC stuff wields it's power completely outside of the parameters our USA Constitution. Hijacking our Country. Making us all into meddlers in foriegn affairs. These are monstrous foreign entanglements of the kind George Washington warned could very easily cripple and destroy our Country. The way to deal with being attacked is to be as strong as possible right here in the USA.

Then. Because no Nation will be foolish enough or ticked-off enough to attack the USA, if any independent group of Islamic radicals does decide to attack us on our soil, they will be acting wildly on their own. Not as an enemy Nation but as independent nutcases using the tactic of terror to try to get some reaction out of 300 million Americans. We already have plenty of organization to deal with that tactical threat. And we can build these organs even stronger. But we must keep our primary defenses always here at home. Our troops in position here to defend us here -- not "over there'. The Middle East especially! They all hate each other's gutz over there. The brainchild of the technologically outgunned and oppressed islamic radical is the suicide bomber. Now that "is" a genuine terrorist. They conduct terrorism as a Guerilla war strategy.

Let our bold and brave U.S. Navy Seals deal with the Guerillas. We won't have many overgrown chimps to deal with anyways if we follow George Washington's expert advice. And the few we do bump into will just be commiting the foolish act of pricking a giant wise and powerful powerful Nation with a piece of straw.

You know we could turn this entire phony ""war on terror" around. By becoming righteously restored as a Nation. We would become a source of diplomatic wisdom if we did. Replacing the United Nation by default. They're a bunch of scum anyways. Bulldoze down the U.N. And on the grounds of where the WTC stood, build a USA Forum and University for learning and discussing the principles of peace that humanity desperately needs most. Non-radical Muslims are invited to attend. Welcome my human brothers and sisters.

This is a thought i had regarding terrorism.

"We need to step back and figure out why the terrorists hate us and are attacking us. What are we doing to piss them off?"

I had a good analogy. Lets say some loser on the street comes up and threatens you with a knife and is going to try to kill you. Do you say to yourself:

"What am I doing to make this guy want to kill me? How can I change myself so that I can make peace with this person, instead of fueling the fire?"

Or do you simply kick his ass?

it's real simple. most of the people on this board will hand over their wives, their wallets, and their dignity.. then they'll run away crying and make a new appointment with their shrinks. Then, after an extra Prozac or two, they'll forget it ever happened...

Heh, what we (the people you refer to) are trying to do is figuring out the reason why there is so many losers on the street and solve the problem completely. Does people need jobs, does the police need more money or what other reasons are there.

But I guess you people are either too lazy to think or don't have the brain to think and the only thing you know is kicking the butt of every loser that comes your way.

I hope you are either really lucky or live in a place that doesn't have too many losers, cause one of those losers can really hurt you or kill you for 10 bucks.

so, if you would continue to figure out "why" there are so many muggers on the street, then implement background changes which begin to reduce their number, -AND- I, at the same time, continue to kill the ones I come across, then eventually it's solved and there is no more mugger problem, correct?

let me make myself clear: I NEVER look down upon those who are working every day to find a way to fix this problem once and for all, BUT, that does NOT mean that we stop killing them (the fanatical element) in the meantime....

I've asked that very same question.

Since it is deemed by the President that these people are so bad why do we let them live???
