A thought for MSI and their BIOS revisions for Pro/2/2A

I just thought that MSI should, in their next bios update, include some flexibility in the control in memory timings.

I have PC100 Hyundai ram, which clocks well at 133mhz (CAS 3) on Pro 2 (7 3900uF caps). But i would also like to be able to set it at 4way interleave - which v1.8+ BIOS could provide if set to Auto SPD. However, the increase in speed gains are forfeited by having to drop down to 100mhz.

So come on MSI, provide some flexibilty for us 'clockers out there.

Thanks in advance

Heck, I want to be able to apply more voltage to the I/O. heck, Asus ships with 3.54 as the default and we can't go higher than 3.45. I want more power! Now that I got that blorb on there....it would be nice to give it at least as much power as the other (Abut/Asus)boards do!

Swiftone, how does 4-Way interleave work? What kind of increases can be expected? I have 256 Meg PC133 mem from Crucial. It is stable up to 148+

As a guide, at 133mhz cas 3, i get about 380/480 in Sandra's mem benchmark. Obviously, at 100mhz cas 2, I get SIGNIFICANTLY less.

With 4-way interleave (at 100mhz), in Sandra I get about 360-370/460 or something. Imagine, if it was possible to get 133mhz AND 4-way, I could be improving the bandwidth to 400+/500+. Now that would be somthing to look forward to!

As a side note, it'll be interesting what bandwidth other users are getting from Sandra.

Jimmy,
I have the same type (only 128mg) of memory that you have. How are you bios set for memory?

RB,

turbo, 2cl, HostClk + 33 (or 133), No memory hole. It seems to work ok, but I get pretty low Memory Bandwidth marks. The only way to get it up in the range where it should be is to Overclock the FSB to 110. Then I get what everyone else is getting. SO there is a problem somewhere.

I'll post more about my bios setting on OD's Orangedelta site this week.

rempe,

man, the that Abit KT7 just shines through its mem benchmarks!

If only the K7T could come anywhere near that......if only ;-(

Swiftone Ya the abit has good memory bandwidth but the HD transfere is 20mbs slower than the MSI.I bet we will see a bios update pretty soon I think MSI is trying to get the asus and abit customers.I will only use the msi for customers.

Sandra 2001 scores

My MSI K7T Pro2 is hitting 420/501 for memory. My Duron 750 is OCed to 875 with a 103 FSB. My RAM is 256MB (2x128) of Mosel Vitelic PC133, Cas 2. Is this respectable? I long for the memory scores of the Abit KT7 - but I love the stability of the K7T.

how do you guys get such a high mark on the abit ... rempe?
i get 468/540

...can anyone run their ram @ cas3 on the abit and tell me?

so does the msi pro2a board run bad with memory only?
i thinking of getting one...comments on your board would be cool...

480/576
crucial pc133 cas2 256mb
tbird 1Ghz@1.1Ghz
w2k pro.

You guys should list the operating system you are using also bucuase i'm sure the w2k scorces are lower for sandra
