A test suite or programs that would help me decide whether to use DDR1 or DDR2 in my system?

so i'm getting this mobo that uses both ddr and ddr2. but should i stick w/ low latency pc3200 ddr400 ram (probably like 2-2-3-5 or similar), or should i go ahead and get ddr2 pc4200 (ddr2-533)? or should i just go up to pc5400 and use ddr2-667?

edit: so i got em both, now what programs should i use to determine whether there is a distinct real-world increase in performance for either/or?

Seeing as how DDR2 prices are eeking closer and closer to DDR, I'd suggest the former. It'll allow you to re-use the memory down the road, as everything is moving to DDR2.

amd is planning to switch to ddr3 at the end of 2007, intel will switch as well (intel admitted that it would have cut ddr2 already if amd chose to skip to ddr3)

whats the point of buying ddr2 for 24 months?

For the larger quantities(like 1GB/2GB) isn't DDR2 cheaper than DDR? Anyhow, Intel's latest chipsets are optimized for DDR2 and perform better with it than they do with DDR.
