I thought it was pretty good as well. I never really watched the show, so I can't tell you if it is "ruined", but it was an enjoyable action flick.

Oh, and FYI... there is something after the credits!

Fuck, left before the credits finished.

Also, the movie was awesome. Ridiculous, absurd, tounge-in-cheek action basically non-stop, with no plot to speak of. Exactly what I wanted.

So, how did 'Page do as B.A? Should he hang up his MMA gloves and get into acting or was he horrid?

What happens after the credits (spoiler'd out):

You get two scenes after the credits. Both seem to be when the guys were incarcerated after being framed. The first had Face walking over to a tanning bed and someone gets out... someone named Dirk Benedict (the original Faceman from the TV show). The newer version gets into a vain conversation asking about how to protect the face and such. The second scene involves Murdock getting what looks like shock therapy. They put these paddles to the sides of his head and begin to zap him... much to his enjoyment. Then they pan over a bit and you see this one doctor talking about how crazy he is... this doctor just happens to be Dwight Schultz, the original Murdock from the TV show. It was just a silly little bit for the fans.

EDIT:

So, how did 'Page do as B.A? Should he hang up his MMA gloves and get into acting or was he horrid?

I didn't really have a problem with his acting, but it is hard to fill Mr. T's shoes!

Guy on NPR said it was too long and disjointed and it sounded boring by his description. RT gives it 53%.

For those that have seen it...is it more like "The Rock" as far action movies or more like "GI Joe"?

Both are cheesy and dumb...but at least The Rock had fun with itself.

Saw it last night. I loved the show and really liked the movie. If you liked the show, you should like the movie.

It's been way too long since I've last seen The Rock, but I'd say probably closer to The Rock. The movie has a lot more fun humor in it.

i enjoy the A-team tv show and I plan on seeing this in the theater sooner or later.

How does the a-team movie related to the "the losers" movie? I saw the losers and it reminded me of the a-team.

thoughts?

I thought A-Team was a ton better than The Losers. I couldn't really get into any of the characters on The Losers... they just seemed so "2 Dimensional" and boring.

The plot was lame but it was an entertaining movie with good humor and rather outrageous and unrealistic action scenes. I totally missed the cameo appearance of Dirk Benedict.

Oh and did anyone else see the preview of Dinner for Schmucks? The entire theater was dead silent, not even a chuckle. That was honestly the worst preview I've seen a long time. It looked like Dumb & Dumber only way dumber.

Damn Roger Ebert bashed this movie but you all saying it was pretty good.

I honestly don't think Ebert really likes mindless action flicks, which is what this is. You aren't supposed to terribly worry about the plot, although the plot does have some interesting twists and turns in it. I think what usually makes a mindless action film good are the characters. They have to be interesting and/or fairly likable. You know the movie Shoot 'Em Up? That movie would've been awful if the main character was boring (although he was supposed to be somewhat dim character-wise) or if Paul Giamatti's character was less than stellar.

But if you read his review, you'll notice that he complains about some of the "silly action sequences" and tries to say things like "that would never happen!" No shit, Ebert... it's called stylized action for a reason. It's usually meant to purely entertain, not meant to be more realistic (like the Bourne trilogy).

I usually prefer reading Ebert's reviews over anyone else, but I can easily spot if he's not being objective. He wasn't very objective in his review of A-Team just like he wasn't with the movie Kick Ass. Although, the thing is that reviews are typically designed to be opinionated pieces, and you may not agree with some of their opinions ;). But it would be nice if they tried to judge a movie on its merits regardless of whether or not it clicks with you.

What might be kind of surprising, is that I've used movies like Shoot 'Em Up as an example of stylized action, but Ebert actually liked Shoot 'Em Up:

http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070906/REVIEWS/709060304/1023

But to give you an idea of why he hated a movie like A-Team, I'd take a peek at Taken's review:

http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090128/REVIEWS/901289987

He rants for half of that article about the premise of the movie and how he goes on a rampage throughout France.

Ebert just doesn't get a fun action flick.

It was okay. Cheap matinee movie type. It tried to hard to be funny. The acting wasn't bad and the story was decent. But too much of a pink panther type movie.
