A friend of mine works for a company in New York City. It's a relatively small company who has decided to save money by outsourcing their programming and website maintanence to another company, located in New Jersey. Now, this company in New Jersey, in order to save money as well, has outsourced a portion of THEIR programming to India. Yes, that's double outsourcing.

They have two seperate account types available on my friend's company's website, standard and premium, which people pay differently for. Over the weekend, a change was made by the company in India and obviously not tested. The permissions are now being completely ignored, so everyone that has a standard account type, now has a premium account type. India is now sleeping and no one can be contacted, so they cannot fix their blunder until tonight.

Sounds like those outsourcers need to be hanged on the Tree of Woe (Conan the Barbarian Fame)

They did it wrong! The domestic office and the foreign office should work in tandem to provide 24x7 support without someone having to be on duty in the middle of the night.

Oops.

No, but the outsourced company should have managed their outsourcing so that their clients won't realize what they did. Just goes to show you gotta be careful who you hire - stateside or not!
