A successful sniping program for ebay?

I know there are a lot of them out there, are any of them good? Or, any horror stories?

I know it's fun to snipe by hand, but I find myself unable to be in the right place at the right time in the near future, so I'm looking to automate the process

I've had good luck with auctionstealer. Costs a little if you want the bid to go in at the very last second, but I've had pretty good luck with the 10sec bid (free).

Just be careful with it, you don't want to end up paying $400 bucks for an empty XBox box.
