A stupid about about Dual Core

We have Athlon64 x 2 and Intel Pentium D. We all know that the marketing slogan is "Dual Core". Question is: are there actually 2 cores inside the Athlon64 x 2 and Intel Pentium D CPUs?

Are Athlon64 really a 64bits CPU or it is just an emulation?

Yes, there are 2 physical cores in a dual core. The 64bit is really 64bit(and it's not just Athlon 64 anymore, Pentium-D's, certain versions of pentium-4's, and Core 2 duo are 64bit as well.)

Yes to both. Although Intel did use to "cheat" and put two cores on the same die, but at least it worked, right?

err, why wouldn't you want both cores on the same die? Core 2 duo for example..shared cache wouldn't work quite so well if it wasn't physcialy connected to both cores on the same die..Presler on the other hand, has 2 seperate die packaged together.

Thats about as much cheating as SLI or Crossfire.

I dont mean to be rude, but what made you think that either processor might not have dual processing cores.
