Long ago in Russia, there was a village that had two neighboring farmers.
The first had everything go right. His crops always were plentiful and of first quality. He had the best water, the best soil. His animals never got sick. His greatest pride was his cow. It gave the best and most milk in the land. Everyone was amazed by this beast.
Now his neighbor had the opposite luck. All bad. If it rained it rained around him (usually on his neighbor). He barely scratched a living out of the ground, and his only cow died, a sickly beast.
Now Michael the Angel took pity on the second man, and decided to go and visit.
"Good man" he said, "I have seen your plight, and I have been given the power to grant one wish"
Michael watched the man deep in thought. Would he want better land? A thriving herd of cattle?
Finally the man smiled and said "Kill my neighbors cow"
So why is this in P&N? Because we sometimes forget that instead of wishing for good, we are only too glad when ill befalls our country if only it makes the political opposition look bad. That is wrong headed thinking.
No matter who wins in this election, we need to keep the welfare of our country and our people paramount. If we oppose a party or candidate let it be for cause, not because they are the "other guy".
