A stoopid poll for the sake of killing time

The total number of all the words ever typed historically in any way shape or form vs the average amount of snowflakes that fall on an annual basis. Obviously there's no accurate way to quantify the 2 numbers so you'll have to go with your gut feeling.

Things to think about:

-Snow is always falling somewhere in the world at any given time
-Over trillions of snowflakes fall in a snowstorm/hour
-A google search shows that the internet contains an estimate of over 100 trillion words.
-We are comparing an annual average[read: just one years worth] of snowflakes to historical total of words typed(think emails).


I don't know why I thought about this but since I did, I may as well bother you all with it

Are we talking about literature or any words in general, like the ones in this forum?

Because if it's the latter, then I'd say words > snowflakes. MSN apparently has billions of messages sent every day. Each message could have a lot of words.

Yes words typed so that includes books, forums posts, emails, anything you can think of. What doesn't count is copy & paste or email forwards, etc. Because millions of copies of all books ever written * number of words * number of copies printed would obviously trump snowflakes for a year.

I don't think it would be that "obvious" at all.

It's hard to imagine one year of snowfall being greater when comparing to the wordcount of millions of newspapers, magazine, & book publications that are printed daily throughout the world then multiplied by all the days since the printing press began. But you're right, it's still not obvious at all since I can't really find out the exact number of snowflakes/year.
