A Steam client update has been downloaded... annoying !@#$ing message

Anyone know why I'm getting this fucking box popping up nearly every fucking day with exactly the same update notes from March 2? It's starting to piss me off.

I'm assuming you're running the beta UI? The beta patch notes aren't being pumped through the updater. Beta updates are being released, but the notes are on the forum. So every time the beta updates, the updater pulls the most recent non-beta patch notes.

That's how it seems to me, anyway.

How bloody annoying. Yes, I'm using the beta UI.

I'm getting the same message pretty much every day also. To everyone who's telling the OP to just ignore it, if you haven't got anything constructive to add to this thread, you have no business posting here so gtfo.

To me, it's just no big deal. If you get that, it means the beta updated. The patch notes are just wrong because they're not running both sets.

I've come to the conclusion that you have no idea what you're doing when it comes to computer software.

I had a conclusion but I lost it somewhere as i worked my way down this thread. If you happen to find it drop me a note.

It probably wouldn't bother me but thats just how I'am. I guess for the OP, and the others using the beta UI, that is the price you have to pay for using beta. I wouldn't sweat it too much. Life is too short to get aggravated by little things like that. Now, if it popped up during a gaming session and kicked you back to the desktop then it'd be worth ranting about.

this actually happens with the regular steam client. put in a support request/bug fix to valve.

an update was partially downloaded but failed, and there is a fragment file that keeps telling you it needs to be applied. you have to delete that fragment file(don't remember where they live). the CSrep can tell you what files to delete.

Interesting, thanks.
