A SSD is the single biggest performance improvement you can make.

It's like going from a 4200rpm hard drive in your laptop to a 7200rpm drive. You don't have to be moving around or processing large files to see the difference. Things are just snappier.

Good analogy, but I want to emphasize that the magnitude 4200RPM->7200RPM is around a factor of 2. The magnitude difference (in terms of access time of course) from HDD to SSD is around a factor of 1000.

Only bummer would be coming into work, and having to go back to the slow desk top. No, we don't have SSDs here at work. We've got hundreds of old Dells that are leased. They're slow as a turtle and crunch the drive all day installing software updates. So no, I'm not going to rush to buy an SSD if it's going to spoil me at home.

True that!

I'm on my work computer now :whiste: and while it's a decent quad-core with 8GB of RAM, it feels dog slow compared to my home desktop. 🙁

Wait...that sounds like my rig. Sir, I challenge you to a d-d-d-d-ddddduel. If it matters anymore, I just put in my x-25v. I didn't have enough time to tie my shoe. The magnitude from mechanical to SSD is OVER 9000!!!!!
