A spin-off of my spending pie chart thread...

While browsing through MS Money I noticed I've spent nearly $900 on restaurants and fast food in the past 20 months. Is that excessive?

over 20 months you only spent $900 total on going out to eat, or you average $900 a month on restaurants? When I still worked for someone else, I ate out 3 meals a day and averaged ~$800 a month

Oh DAMN no. $900 total in 20 months. And I'll be turning 19 in March.

Depends on how much you make. $45/month or $1.50/day is probably well below the average of most people.
During 14 of those months I was making $100-$200/week, depending on the job and the week. During the last six of those months I've only been working during school breaks.

Then I'd say you are doing fine as long as you can meet your other obligations. 😀 For me it was just easier to grab something to eat, as I was working almost full time and going to school full time there just wasn't time for me to cook/clean for 3 meals a day.

omg. you have nothing to worry about. if I took a look at what I spend going out to bars, I would probably want to shoot myself. probably around $300 a month.
