A Sonic The Hedgehog... movie?

article said:
“Westworld’s” James Marsden will star in Paramount’s live-action/animation hybrid movie “Sonic the Hedgehog,” an adaptation of the classic video game, sources tell Variety.

The studio landed the film rights to the classic game in 2017 and tapped Jeff Fowler to direct.

Neal H. Moritz, who recently signed a first-look deal with Paramount, is producing under his Original Film banner. “Deadpool” director Tim Miller will serve as executive producer, along with Toby Ascher. Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons will co-produce.

Sega launched the Sonic game in 1991 and has sold more than 360 million copies to date, including both packaged and digital games on consoles, tablets, and mobile.

The game features a hedgehog named Sonic on a quest to defeat Doctor Robotnik, a scientist who has imprisoned animals in robots and stolen magical Chaos Emeralds.

The movie is set to bow on Nov. 15, 2019. The film marks the first time that Sonic has ever been adapted for the big screen.

Marsden can currently be seen as Teddy on HBO’s “Westworld,” which is in its second season and continues to be one of the network’s most popular shows. Marsden is also active on the film front, having most recently appeared in Rob Reiner’s “Shock and Awe.”

He is repped by CAA, and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.

They should do Bubble Bobble as a movie instead, there's far more character development going on.

I'll just leave this here. No commentary is really necessary, other than who the hell was the genius behind Gangster's Paradise as the theme song for the trailer?

Maybe it's meant to be a subtle nod to Sonic's original design, which wasn't "gangster" per say but heavily rock inspired with a human girlfriend modeled after Madonna. By the way, we can thank Sega of America for nixing that idea. 😛

Frankly, it just doesn't seem right not having Sonic without Jaleel White! Way past uncool.

Sonic and Sonic2 are the last video games I actually beat...that and sewer shark on the sega cd.

I want the times when a 3 button controller was cutting edge.

Not sure who wants a live action Sonic.
I don't. And look at my flippin' user name. I was a hardcore Sega and Nintendo nut in the 90's, but now it's mostly Nintendo. Sonic Adventure 2 and the Dreamcast is where Sega and Sonic died for me. Everything Sonic since has been an embarrasment. For a long time I had just figured I had grown out of it. But then I remember how much I still like all things Mario even in my 30's.

This just got me thinking is Sonic still around? I remember it being popular on the Sega Genesis and that general era and there was a TV cartoon but don't really recall hearing about it after that. I kinda want to play it now. I'll have to get a Sega emulator. 😛

something about the sound of losing all your rings when you got hit still resonates. I hear Jim Carrey is playing dr. robotnick...so thats kinda cool.

This is pretty high up on my "stuff I didn't ask for list" right up there with avocado toast and vampire porn. Even my 5 year old daughters were meh and they love sonic.

I'll just leave this here.]

The elevator part with the bag was pretty fun...it's not my kid! lol. If they have a bunch of lines like that, the movie will make it. The animation is weird tho. All I can see is Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day in his skinny-jean phase...in a furry onesie:
