The non-translated microsoft webpage mentions nothing about formatting.

To remove blaster, kill the process in task manager, delete the executable, apply the patch.

Norton has a fix on their Symantec front page called FixBlast.exe and they suggest you download the MS patch and update.

The MS Patch is found here for the specific operating system, just click on the appropriate link.

You can either clean first and then patch, or patch and then clean.

Enjoy!

Man...so much confusion.

The patch does NOT get rid of the virus...I am not sure how people got confused with this.

The fix is TWO steps:

1. Patch your machine with the correct Microsoft hotfix.
2. Update your Virus Scan software or get a free removal tool from Symantec or Mcafee and remove the virus.

The misconception that simply applying the Microsoft patch cures all your problems is half the reason that so many people are still spreading this worm.
