A Small Orange web-hosting, anyone have experience with them?

Thinking of going with the 5/month shared hosting plan here. I assume I can still edit the css/html/etc/ on my own even if it's shared hosting? I haven't done any web design in about 7 years, and when I did I don't recall shared hosting even existing so I know next to nothing about it. I just need it for a standard web-page advertising my services, so I don't need anything extravagant.

ASO is good. I left them a couple years ago because I needed more space, but they had top notch service and very good uptime.

Why not look into using Vivi's hosting co, MadGenius? He gives discounts to members of AT.

wow with the 30% off from vivi I can go up a few levels extra and pay the same price as a beginner package from ASO

Remember to look at the overall package, not just cost.

Vivi beats OSA in both storage space and bandwidth. Not to knock OSA, I'm sure they're a great host, but Vivi takes care of AT members pretty well.

yeah the storage and bandwidth is superior, with the 30% discount it's actually as cheap as a couple tiers down from OSA. I heard great things about OSA; I'll have to go back and research Vivi's now and see how it matches up

Research is a good idea. Vivi runs a solid web host, he's active on WHT/AT and a respected member of the community.

nm, canceled account. That was the worst experience I've had with a hosting company ever. Should've just gone with ASO

Have you sent a PM to Vivi with your problems/concerns?

Like I said research, research, research and cost shouldn't be your only concern.

There are several established, reputable and reliable web hosts for around $5/mo. Best of luck, it sounds like you may need it.

I'm trying to set up a web disk account, should take 30 seconds. I'm using the login details given to me by them. If I enter them, it locks me out of my account completely, not just the web disk portion. It's happened 8 times now. I contacted customer service to unlock it each time, and they don't seem to understand what page I'm looking at, or at least they don't seem to be able to help.

Hi Waterjug!

To be fair, it took me less then 2 minutes to do this logged in as you. If you cannot get it, I will just send you the VBS that it auto generated for me and worked. By the way, you've only been talking to me via support.

I assumed it was;

like I said I can create web disk accounts for other directories, but the root directory for me is the one I need. I follow the same steps for that one as I do for creating the others, and it locks me out every time. I don't understand where the auto-generated username for the root directory came from either.
