I found the Holy Grail of Instant Messengers. It connects to several messengers at once so long as you have an account with those services.

http://www.imici.com

Doesn't have all the features yet but it could become the one I use most.

works with these:

AOL ICQ Yahoo MSN

Personally, I think that AOL and ICQ should be able to talk to each other.... considering they are both owned by the same company.

TSDible,

They are working on it. I will post a link to an article I found(it's at work) on this subject.

hmmmm....

why did this get moved from off topic to General Hardware? If we are going to move it, shouldn't we at least put it into one of the software categories?

They better not kill the compatility with AIM or ICQ since it is cool having to use only one IM program. I like having a ICQ number but I'm not crazy about the amount of memory it takes to run.

Has anybody made it work? Imici messenger shows all people I set off-line whereas AIM, Yahoo IM, etc. show that people are online. Does anybody else have the same problem?

Bermar...

I've tried using this program. It seems very buggy to me right now. I had the same problems...

There are a couple of similar programs, there's also an OpenSource aproach to it, but everything I've seen is very buggy and still in Alpha stage. Unusable to me, so I stick to ICQ for the moment.
Also, I think the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) or some other net standards organisation is working on a common instant messenger protocol. Let's just hope it works out and everyone invloved sticks to the new standards (when they're available). The browser war has shown that companies have their own ideas about protocols...

My main concern with Odigo is that it's Adware ... *shriek* If that's not a problem for you then, yes, it's quite cool.

It looks like Odigo 3 does not have spyware. At least Optout does not find anything.
