... to increase my credit limit from $10,000 to $15,000 and to reduce my interest rate from 16% to 11%. I should have done that months ago... as a result, I've paid over $800 in "finance charges." :(

Anyway, what all does one buy with a $15,000 credit limit?

I can answer that one: about 298 little tiny "inexpensive items." They add up. :(

I guess they had good intentions for you to spend to your new limit and collect more interest from you.

Tell me about it. :( On my last few statements, I had:

PAYPAL $40.00
PAYPAL $50.00
PAYPAL $60.00
PAYPAL $30.00
PAYPAL $18.00
PAYPAL $26.00
PAYPAL $25.00
PAYPAL $35.00
PAYPAL $50.00
PAYPAL $90.00
PAYPAL $60.00
PAYPAL $30.00
PAYPAL $18.00
PAYPAL $26.00
PAYPAL $25.00
PAYPAL $35.00
PAYPAL $50.00
PAYPAL $90.00

Or something to that effect. I've closed my Paypal account since then.

Cool I might get an MBNA card one day.

I've heard they have the same feature as CitiBank and Amex does, the one time use credit card numbers?

I believe Skoorbie either was or still is an MBNA cardholder.

Yep, he claims it's for the rewards but based on the threads he's started here I think it's because he can monitor MrsSkoorb's spending in real time via the Internet. :p

MBNA is one of the most successful banks at recruiting college students as customers. I got my MBNA card as a senior in HS and still have it today. My APR is not special, I never receive any interesting B.T. offers, and there are virtually no financial incentives (there are a few niceties with the Quantum MasterCard). Yes, MBNA concocted a Quantum card as a premium brand instead of Platinum. They've automatically steadily raised my credit limit over time, although it's irrelevant unless I plan on skipping the country. :p

As for MBNA ShopSafe, they were maybe the first to offer it, and it's more or less the same as Citibank's VAN feature. I wouldn't be surprised if they both license the Flash applet and back-end technology from the same technology firm. I used to use ShopSafe regularly, but I since switched over to using Citibank VAN because my Click Citi card was much better. Unfortunately the Click Citi card was retired and I'm not sure if I'll be using the Citibank replacement card or my Discover card frequently from now on.

Edit:
The best thing about MBNA is their real grace period is excellent. If I purchase something just after my statement closes, the payment isn't due for nearly 2 full months.
