I just got my dad's old verizon phone and it is better than the crappy one I have now, is there any way I can switch the numbers besides taking it to a verizon store?

You can change the esn online at the verizion online site.

Only on GSM phones. Verizon is CDMA... I'm in Canada and I knew that.
