House Ways and Means chairman Rep. Bill Thomas [R-CA] on Sunday claimed Congress should consider looking at Social Security reforms that would payout future benefits -- on such factors as race and gender.

The 'flash' may not last long, any other links posted would be cool.

Am I the only one that thinks this is just freaking retarded?

Lots of things are news and get posted here. The OT crowd has a different slant, that is what I was looking for.

We're not interested. Call up Bill O'Reily or Al Franken for their slants. This is a political cheerleader/rant free zone.

This is not the forum you are looking for..........move along.

yeah, since women live longer, they shouldn't start getting SS until they are older than men since we die sooner

Not really, I just want to discuss the idea of tieing what you get back from what you pay in to your gender / race

gee, I don't see anything wrong with this approach.

If you want affirmative action you take it all. You don't get to selectivly choose what part of affirmative action and quotas and racism you agree with.

Most Republicans will chime in with the latest Karl Rove talking points, as filtered through whatever media shills the poster happens to read, watch or listen to.

Most Democrats will speak up with the caring and sharing agenda that the more disorganized Democratic leadership has tried to promote to the liberal media, involving more "fair" changes like increasing SS taxes for "high earners" regardless of what the cost of living is where they work.

No independent thought needed.

here is a wacky idea

the govt. lets us keep our 14% FICA tax and i get to spend it on stuff for me!

and what the heck, i would even bump my 401(K) from 4% to 8% , that would still give me a 10% pay raise! that would be very cool
i could buy a new car and help stimulate the economy, very patriotic i think

since the government doesn't need to pass a welfare needs test when they're taking SS from my paycheck I don't think we should need to take one should we be lucky enough to live long enough to get some of it back.
