A series of questions of LAN related issues!

Hi all, I have a SMC7004VBR router installed for my home network. As a result I am behind firewall. At times, when I tried to access a particular FTP with an odd port such as 444, no matter I enable pasv mode or not in my cuteFTP client, I will not be able to access the directory listing!

Is there way to bypass this problem? Is there a setting I must change in the web panel? Can someone with knowledge with my router provide me with some solution?

Thank you!

I have followed the instruction provided by the website, however, when I tried to use CuteFTP to access the FTP with a 444 port, it still won't read the directory listing no matter if I turn off the pasv mode or not!

What's up with that?

Thanks! BTW, how do set up a DMZ zone? The website did not provide any detailed instructions on how to do it!

If there is a setting for "Windows" or "Unix" FTP servers try hard setting it to the opposite setting (no auto).

They could also have visibillity to the directory and files turned off (i.e., no read rights).

If you're connecting and getting a prompt, it's not the port that's at issue.

Try uploading a file, then download it.

Try the CLI FTP client and see if it's doing the same thing, maybe it's just a config issue with Cute.

Good Luck

Scott
