I consider myself a lucky person. Most of my family has lived long and health lives, and thankfully, this death wasn't within my family. However, when a person within a community passes, one who was regarded as a pioneer to their hobby.

A great man, "Gus" Mahon, recently died in a motorcycle accident when someone pulled out in front of him in an intersection.

I interact with many people within the Shelby/Dodge community, they're all very nice and helpful people. We all love our cars, and it brings us together as friends - and at that point the hobby becomes more than just a hobby, it brings people together as best friends and family. Gus was without a doubt, the most well known pioneer of tweaking turbo Dodges. Anyone who's visited New England Dragway may have seen his low 12 second Plymouth Acclaim (silver), or his 13 second Minivan (blue), yeah, he was the first out there running these times with these kinds of cars - simply put, he was the man when it came to these cars. Not only was he an absolute *genious* when it came to squeezing power from his cars, but he was so very willing to share his info, he kept *nothing* to himself. It was as if he was into the hobby just so he could learn things to tell us. The only other man who influenced our cars more was Mr Carrol Shelby himself.

I ask, whoever reads this, to please take a moment of silence for Gus. He recently became a grandfather, and leaves behind a great family. I ask you to recognize the passing of someone who was the best at what he did, someone that *hundreds* looked up to, and not just because of what he did with his cars.

Thank you for reading
