Maybe you should have DC participation as a requirement on your applications 😀😛

It's should be requirement for Internet connected PC's to contribute as a tool to benefit mankind. The only way that will happen is if a movement starts to get a drop down menu added in the screensaver section of the OS, anyone at MS listening? Certainly would make MS look better in the eyes of a turbulent planet especially relating to Computers and the Internet.

I do say.... was someone rattling on my coffin? Might as well set my record straight.

As Greg points out, January saw some big changes for me. The drop in my production was my call. I made the decision to pull the plug after my boss left. He had let me run the fleet, even though it was against company policy. If there had been problems, it would have been his butt.

Anyway, the new boss had a family to support and other things to worry about.. I didn't want to do anything to jeopardize his position. We all know how hard a good IS position is to find.

Did I mention, I'm the new BOSS?

There is life after DC. The new position has kept me extremely busy. I move into a beautiful new house in a couple months. Another baby joins the family in January.

It was fun. My contribution will always be a part of AT and the SETI community. Besides, I'm too lazy to put them on e*bay 😉

Isn't it amazing that stuff like this happens. I am going through a meeting today to see if I can keep my systems running. I just got them up. But now they are thinking twice about it. Same old crap too. They are concerned with security, lessend cpu life, loss of employee productivilty in case their apps dont work as fast becuase of seti going 100%. So I am going to do my best to "educate" these supposed "smart" IT people. But what can you do. It's not worth your job right.

Robor really sorry to hear about that, youve been crunching more set units that ive had hot dinners, but you will bounce back and you will always be a valued member of theTeAm.
IBhacknU Good call, it is not worth losing anything over and glad to see all is goin well for you.
At the moment i am persuading local businesses to join Seti, and when i go to college in september i will be putting together a seti presentation, as for my fleet i am increasing it slowly 3 so far hopefully up to 8 by fall if anyone has any bits they are not using they would not go a miss, i want to have at least 5 dedicated Seti Crunchers if not more by the end of the year but money is tight so its a major scrounging mission at the moment 😀

Well I gave in and fired up the SetiQ box. I mean, um, a freak power surge must've turned the SetiQ box back on. Yeah, that's it... 😉 😛

(that's my story and I'm sticking to it!) 😉
 
I feel for you, so much work now taken away...

Fortunately I am the administrator here and the director understands what DC is all about and is for it. 🙂

Unfortunately, the techs are upset becuase they can't install their DC clients using their accounts because I already have 😉. I do let them run their clients on their own machines 😛

But a sad day indeed...
