For me there will always be NINE planets!

Anyway isn't the IAU just redefining 'planet' so that one astronomer can say 'I DISCOVERED A PLANET BEFORE YOU! I AM TEH AWESOME!' to another astronomer? They're the only ones that will care anyway.

The very structure of reality is unravelling before my eyes. What next, hotdogs aren't really meat?!

You've been downsized.

I wonder if they outsourced Pluto's work to Mexico or India??

pluto sucks, it is a crappy lamo comet thing

Wow.....I hope my sarcasm meter is broken, and you're not serious about that? Please tell me that's the case!!

I don't care what a bunch of geeks tells us now, Pluto's a planet. Man, if that's all these clowns have to do, why not put some of them to work on solving world hunger, or something important like that?!?

If the BS reason given for excluding Pluto is used, how can Neptune be a planet ?

Has Neptune "cleared" it's orbital path, if Pluto is in it's orbit ?

It's not so bad, Pluto getting axed as a planet might mean it gets the honor of having all other objects like itself named after it: "plutons"

I agree. We must be missing something or else these scientists were pawned by their own dare I say "eliptical" logic. Pluto oribts neptune and therefore isn't a planet because it didn't clear its orbit but Neptune which has Pluto orbiting it did clear its orbital path? What in the supernovae blazes is going on around here?

Awesome. Now there will never be confusion about which one is currently the furthest from the sun!

I need to start a list of things to tell my grandkids about how it was "in my day."

- Downloading a 20 MB file on my 14.4kbps modem was a several hour process
- Thought teraserver.com was the coolest thing in the world because they actually had over a terabyte of disk space
- Lived in a solar system with 9 planets

You got it wrong there!
Jupiter is the 5th planet from the Sun not Saturn!
