A rollerblading God

That's pretty badass. I never had aggressive rollerblades (I prefer speed skating), but I can sure appreciate the difficulty of his stunts.

why does everyone feel they have to compare the 2 sports?

It's mostly coming from people who wouldn't have a chance on blades. So they need to compensate for their shortcomings.

Um...no. I skateboarded for 10 years and will still say to my deathbed that skateboarding is harder than blading. Although I've heard surfing is pretty damn hard too.

actually, here in MD, the people on blades were the posers that couldn't ollie. Regardless, I was just messing around as denoted by the smiley face, but I do think doing things on rollerblades is alot easier then doing things on a skateboard.

Thats like saying Football is hard than rugby or soccer is harder than baseball you just don't compare sports in that way. However, if you are to measure who can jump larger gaps, who can grind longer rails, who can do more technical grinds, than obvously rollerblading has the upper hand. SO stop with the "_______ is harder than ________" becasue in the end you can't really compare different sports that way.

I don't get it... what was so "cool" about that?

Well, if your to observe it strictly from a subjective point of view, the technicality of that first stunt is so immense that it would be physically impossible for even 0.0000001% of the population to execute it with out falling or possibly killing themselves. I suppose that's what makes it so "cool."

I already said it once slim, but i'll say it again, I was just messing around. But if you want to play, the fact that you pointed out Rollerbladers can "jump larger gaps, do more technical grinds (i don't agree, b/c you guys really don't have a switch. A switch Variable heelflip to BS Crook is pretty damn technical in skateboarding to me.)..." just further proves my point that rollerblades are in fact easier then skateboards. You guys have the wheels attached to your feet and just have to worry about getting your feet underneath you, skateboarders have to get two seperate bodies (the board and body) past whatever obstacle.

I guess our definition of "cool" is just that different.

It sounds to me like the skateboard is an archaic instrument that inhibits freedom and restricts the athlete from performing more complex stunts, so I ask you why stick with a spong ball when you can play with a nice firm leather ball that you can throw farther and have more fun with. I know you clever enough to realize that I was just using a metaphor, right?

hahahahhahah, the skateboard is archaic, compared to a set of wheels glued to some shoes? The skateboard has suspension, rollerblades have wheels on shoes. And if the skateboard is "restrictive," type Rodney Mullen into google and see what he can do. Tell you what, I'll get the link, Rodney is a lot more fun to watch then the vids you posted. Here you go:

Rodney just messing around

I perfer snowboarding personally but I think that 720 to the grind definetly took the most skill out of those three. spinning to a rail like that takes some serious balls.

edit: I suck at spelling

See, now that's "cool".

The proof is in the pudding.

Within every inline skater is a failed skateboarder. Skateboarding is just so, so much more difficult to do, and far more awesome to watch.

I've seen Rodney Mullen in action before, and I don't need you to tell me how amazing he is, I know that he is to a certain extent. Mullen, however, could never pull off a grind on the 666 rail that is linked in the 3rd edit, nor could he even attempt to gap the stuff skaters do. FYI, rollerblades also have shocks now days and if you ever analyze a skate you'd release that its more than a wheels on shoes. Reading your posts makes me think that you've probably never skated or even worn skates before, and are a mere fade following sheep that has gotten on the skateboarding band wagon becasue all of the cool kids are doing it, but inreality your depriving yourself of really having fun just to fit in.

Well, the thing is these wood-pushers feel they need to make fun of skaters simply becasue its the "cool" thing to do. But in reality they're just fade following sheeps.

I hoped on the board because when I did, it was fun as hell. I loved bombing down hills, i loved manualing long flats, I loved catching a kickflip with my backfoot and so on. As for the shocks you speak of, are they insoles? You're right that i have not looked into blades, never cared for it, because it didn't look nearly as fun. I agree that Rodney probably couldn't pull off a mile long grinds, but how many rollerbladers can do anything remotely close to the Underflips that Rodney did(switch for that matter, got switch?). Gaps and rails are harder for skateboarders because of the things I mentioned before. The question is have you ever stepped foot on a board? You will instantly see the inherent difficulty and learning curve. Rollerbladers themselves around here even say that they switched to blades because skateboarding was too hard.

Thank you for proving my point; skateboards are difficult athletic equipments so why use them, they're archaic and outdated. Rollerblades give the athlete more freedom and versatility to express themselves both artistically and competitively.

You missed the point. It takes more skill to do the same tricks on a skateboard than it does on on rollerblades. That's the point James3shin is trying to make.

Oh yeah, then I wanna see a wood-pusher try a fraction of the stuff Olie Short does here: Youtube
