Here 'tis . . . if neither candidate is inspiring enough to attract more than 49% of the vote, why are Dems so vehemently supportive of Gore?

Before the election many said that the Gore and Bush plans for the presidency were remarkably similar . . . but now that it seems that Gore has lost, people grumble about how terrible Bush is going to be.

I'm a tad confused to say the least. ;)

Both Democrats and Republicans are voting more to block the advance of their opponents than to support their own sides. Both candidates are so mediocre they offer no inspiration or leadership, but since the active electorate is so polarized they froth about the evils of their enemies out of reflex. Pandering to the ignorance, stupidity, and baseness of the general public has produced candidates who are little more than party figureheads.

In truth, they aren't. In politics, 95% of reality is perception, so they must maintain the brave front in an effort to create the perception that they are behind their boy.
