A really good motherboard that doesn't require onboard sound

I want to get a new computer and carry over a few compontents from my old system. Well, one really, my platinum Audigy 2 soundcard. Saying that, I notice that many motherboards offer onbaord sound (i also notice that many prebuilt systems doen't even come with a soundcard). 2 part question. Is there a really good motherboard that doesn't have onbaord sound. Or will the soundcard just take precedence and I shouldn't even worry if the motherboard has onboard sound. Any thoughts on this anyone?

You can always just disable the on-board sound on any motherboard and use your better Soundbastard.

Yes, any decent (as well as all indecent) MBs let you disable the on-board sound in the bios.

Most boards come with onboard sound now. Onboard sound keeps getting better and better but it is not up to Audigy 2 yet. For most, onboard sound is fine it is just that onboard sound uses a greater percentage of cpu and you will lose some fps because of it.

Most on-board sound also use inferior DACs compared to, say, Audigy cards. Dedicated sound card outputs much cleaner analog signals than on-board.
