A Real Stumper!! P3 problems? mobo?

Hey guys... my roommate has a weird problem. Here's his stuff... P3 800 retail, 100 bus, and his mobo is an Abit BE6-2 Rev. 2. He's had this setup for a little over a year and it's been working fine up until yesterday. All of a sudden it rebooted and it hasnt been able to post at all. We've tried almost everything. He's got a spare P2 450 which works in his mobo and we've even tried his P3 800 in another roommates computer and it posts as 800 and it works. So we are running out of options. I thought it would be something about voltage or the PSU but we tried another PSU without any luck. he didnt touch his mobo bios settings but we've tried flashing the bios without luck. He's not Overclocking anything and everything runs fine with the P2 450 in the rig. Any Ideas/Solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I had the exact same thing happen this week, with the exact same board, after replacing the mobo it was fine, before that i tried everything but no boot AT ALL.

Were you using it in one machine with the Slotket and tested it in another without it? Pikachu might have a good point. Maybe the slotket went out.

it's a slot 1 P3 800... and there is no need for a slotket. The chip is seated properly and firmly so i dont think anything is loose. could it be the capaciters of the mobo?? he says one is oozing a little. we might have found the culprit!
