i hate there are so many different codecs for video! i mean, can't we just pick ONE universal standard that is way better than everything else and go with that? or even can't there be one AND ONLY ONE player that will just play every video ever?
there is nothing more annoying than trying to load up a video and have it not work and then trying to figure out what thing i need to download NOW to get it playing with proper video or proper sound or even to get it going at all!

Yea, I hate having to search for 30 minutes just to find the codec I need to play the pr0n I just downloaded...it's a mood killer.

install a codec pack and use media player classic, it will even play real and QT

I tried installing that. I'm missing a whole bunch of libraries and I don't have the patience to download all of the libraries (a dozen or so) and install them. Anyone wanna connect to my linux box and do it for me? 😛

What are you talking about? It can't natively do DivX, Xvid, Real Media, or Quicktime (.mov).

This was in reference to her asking to be able to play most types of video, which it can do most types. But of course without the proper codec installed it can not "decode" the video regardless of player, which is common knowledge IMO.

anyone know of an easy way to convert a bunch of files into the same format? I'd love to have a completely xvid library.
