A rant about NewEgg.....

Sorry wanted to rant and see if anyone else had this happen to them....

About 2 weeks ago I ordered a Asus A8N32-Deluxe from NewEgg for $189 to replace my ePoX-SLi motherboard because the ePoX board had issues with some USB devices I had and when connected, I'd get BSOD about twice a day unless I unplugged those devices. So a couple days later I get a box from NewEgg and open the box and first thing that popped to mind when I looked at the motherboard was "This ain't new?!". Can't really explain it but I could tell this board didnt' come directly from ASUS to NewEgg to me. So knowing I was going to RMA it, i plugged the board in anyways just to try it out and see what the deal was. Plugged everything in including my two 7800GTs (SLi). Turned the PC on and tried to go into the BIOS and the system crashed. Turned the PC off and back on went back into the BIOS, now it seems fine so i checked a couple of the BIOS options and then it crashed again. tried it multiple times and at random the PC would crash in the bios sometimes as soon as i get into the BIOS and other times with in minutes. Did however confirm that this board was in someone elses hands before me as there were custom settings selected for hard drives and cd-roms. Looks like someone had the board before me, found a problem with it (it crashes non stop), RMA'ed it to NewEgg and then NewEgg tried to send it directly to me. So i called up NewEgg and yelled at them and demanded a brand new board that came directly from asus not someone elses house, they sent me an RMA w/ the reason being "Does Not Match What We Show". So I sent the motherboard back. I then get an e-mail on monday saying "board was repaired and here is your tracking number". So I called them back up and yelled at them even more demanding to know what moron switched the RMA reason from "Does not match what we show" to "Repair". A day later they sent me a brand new tracking number with a brand new Asus A8N32-Deluxe inside that was shipped from TN. So the board comes to me yesturday opened the box. Noticed certain differences from what I remember of the old board. The PCI-E slots are designed differently also the PCB seems to be a different color. This board says Rev 1.01 where the other board that was sent back said 1.01G. So, I put my PC back together w/ this motherboard and find out that 1 of my 2 7800GTs doesn't work in either slot and the other video card that does work, only shows 1 monitor yet has 2 DVI ports (my old SLi system i was able to use Dual Monitor). These parts were working perfectly in the ePox board a few weeks back. It looks like the first A8N32-Deluxe newegg tried to ship me fried one of my 7800GTs but ever knew it because that PC kept crashing and I had gotten rid of my ePox board before the first A8N32-Deluxe was delivered.

So, if NewEgg had sent me a new board in the first place, i'd still have 2 working video cards. Now I dont' know if I can RMA these cards back to eVGA or I have to buy brand new video cards.

I know NewEgg can do no wrong in many peoples mind here. Just wanted to tell a story of my bad experience w/ them.

1st of all you're stupid for putting your stuff in a board you know isn't new like you were suppsoed to get.

2nd...well, thats pretty much all i have to say.

you are a retard for trying your stuff in a board you knew was a return. you NEVER do it.

oh paragraphs are nice to use.

I ordered some case fans on Sunday...they shipped Monday and I got them Wed...I got the email from newegg with my tracking number this morning saying they shipped yesterday... 😕🙂

I like to do this with boards that arrive with chunks broken off and scorch marks, just to see what will happen. Fun!

Brilliant.

All I can say is when you see a mobo that's been used, don't take a chance. I've had bad luck all around with refurb mobos.... Sorry to hear about your problems...maybe you can just send it back and get NewEgg to give you a total refund or credit to get a different mobo?

Heh heh...

That happened to me today with some blank TY's and a stick of RAM I ordered.

I realize this is a public forum, not a school paper, but complete sentences in paragraphs would be great.

It sounds like you bought a "new" board from newegg, and it was in fact a return. I don't know why you "yelled" at them as they were willing to process an RMA for you. While I don't like that they sent you a return when you bought "new", at least they were willing to work with you. Sorry to hear your GPU seems to have been killed. Hopefully eVGA will do an RMA for you.

Therein lies your problem. It would be uber-nice of NewEgg to replace your video cards, but they are in no way liable for it. You live, you learn.

Don't forget:

Cliff: One of my video cards isn't working, the mobo must have done it because video cards never, ever malfunction for other reasons.

I have purchased over $90,000 worth of merchandise from Newegg in the last 2.5 years. ONE order in that entire period was shipped with the wrong part. Every other order has been spot on. I have had a few bad parts but out of the 150 or so MB's I have purchased NONE were ever opened before. Every time I have had a bad part they took it back and got me a replacement without a problem.

On a side note, if I order something from newegg and zipzoomfly on the same day shipping the newegg order 2 day and the zipzoomfly overnight I will get the newegg part sooner almost everytime.

Ohh sorry dude. that's why I don't buy Asus products anymore. Too much crap experiences with Asus.

Edit: Check out the refurbed Asus boards at Newegg. They outnumber all other brands.

You knew the board wasn't new, and you plugged all your stuff into it anyway instead of directly calling NewEgg and telling -- not yelling -- them that they didn't give you what you were supposed to get.

You did it to yourself. You get no pity from the peanut gallery.
